A Note from Raul Sandoval, Principal

Thanksgiving break is fast approaching and the chilly weather is a reminder that the fall season is upon us (and winter is not too far away).

Gifted & Talented

Today, Mrs. Clarke hosted the Essex County Gifted & Talented “Problem Solving” Event at Noecker.  We had G&T students from several schools across Essex County.  There were a total of 100 students putting their minds together for fun and stimulating activities.  Thank you to Mrs. Clarke for coordinating the event.  Be on the lookout for pictures of the event on our Facebook page.

November is Diabetes Awareness Month

More than 133 million Americans are living with diabetes (37.3 million) or prediabetes (96 million). Diabetes is a chronic (long-lasting) disease that affects how your body turns food into energy. There are three main types of diabetes: type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes (diabetes while pregnant). Among school-age children, type 1 diabetes is more common than type 2 diabetes. In type 1 diabetes, the body doesn’t make insulin, a hormone that helps glucose get into the cells and be used for energy. As a result, the amount of glucose in their blood may be higher than normal, and their bodies may not use glucose effectively. Students with type 1 diabetes need to take insulin every day to stay alive. Other students may have type 2 diabetes. This type of diabetes, while more common among adults, is increasingly being diagnosed among children. In type 2 diabetes, the body may make insulin, but not enough to control blood glucose. Symptoms of diabetes can be frequent urination, feeling very thirsty, feeling very hungry, weight loss-even though you are eating, extreme fatigue, blurry vision, cuts/bruises that are slow to heal. Please contact your physician if you see any of these symptoms.
