A Note from Raul Sandoval, Principal

We had a great day yesterday with the Halloween parade, classroom parties, and the high energy of students dressed in costumes.  It was a perfect way to end the month of October.  Now that November is here, the weather is getting chillier.  Please make sure your child brings a jacket or sweater to school.  We want to take advantage of good weather days during the colder months while ensuring students stay warm and healthy.

Coffee with the Superintendent

Please join Mr. Leone for Coffee with the Superintendent!  For more information please click here to view the upcoming session along with additional dates.

November is Diabetes Awareness Month

Type 1 diabetes is thought to be caused by an immune reaction (the body attacks itself by mistake). Risk factors for type 1 diabetes are not as clear as for prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. Known risk factors include family history (having relatives with type 1 diabetes) as well as age. You can get type 1 diabetes at any age, but it usually develops in children, teens, or young adults. Currently, there is no prevention for type 1 diabetes. Be aware that common symptoms of diabetes are frequent urination, feeling very thirsty, feeling very hungry, even though you are eating, extreme fatigue, blurry vision, cuts/bruises that are slow to heal, and weight loss, even though you are eating more.

You’re at risk for Type 2 diabetes if you have prediabetes, are overweight, over 45 years of age, have a relative with type 2 diabetes, are physically less active, or have ever had gestational diabetes (diabetes during pregnancy or given birth to a baby who weighed over 9 pounds). You can prevent or delay type 2 diabetes with proven lifestyle changes such as weight loss, eating a healthy diet, and getting regular physical activity.

You’re at risk for Prediabetes if you are overweight, over 45 years of age, have a relative with type 2 diabetes, are physically less active, or have had gestational diabetes (diabetes during pregnancy or given birth to a baby who weighed over 9 pounds). Again, you can prevent or reverse prediabetes with proven lifestyle changes such as weight loss, eating a healthy diet, and getting regular physical activity.

Health Office 💗

A friendly reminder that Noecker requires that you should not send your child to school if they present with the following:

  • Fever in the past 24 hours. Do not give “Tylenol” before school, in an attempt to “get through the day”. Must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school without the use of fever-reducing medicine.

  • Flu-like symptoms - Must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school without the use of fever-reducing medicine.

  • Vomiting and/or diarrhea in the past 24 hours - Must be illness-free for 24 hours before returning to school.

  • Bad cold, with a very runny nose or sore throat with a bad cough, especially if it has kept the child awake at night or cannot participate in school.

  • Unknown rashes- Must be seen by a physician to be identified and return to school only if the student is not contagious with a doctor’s note stating this with the diagnosis.

  • Strep Throat- Must be on an antibiotic for 24 hours before returning to school.

  • Conjunctivitis- Must be on prescription eye drops 24 hours before returning to school.
