A Note from Raul Sandoval, Principal

As we welcome the month of May, we have been quite busy learning and participating in fun activities and events.  Although the weather says otherwise, May is here and we are in the home stretch! Read on for the latest.

HSA Tricky Tray

I want to thank the HSA for an incredible event.  I had a great time calling out winning tickets and seeing the excitement, energy, and outpouring of support from the community.  I look forward to another great one next year!

NJSLA Testing (May 4th through May 10th)

Tomorrow we officially beginNew Jersey State Learning Assessment (NJSLA) testing in ELA and Math for grades 3-6.  Teachers and students have been preparing in various ways, both during the year and in recent weeks.  For our students to do their best, we ask families to ensure that students get a good night’s rest and a good breakfast.  Students in grades 4-6 should ensure that their Chromebooks are fully charged each night.  Lastly, please make sure your child comes to school on time! When students arrive late, and testing in their homeroom has begun, they will not be allowed to enter their homeroom until after testing is complete.  They will then have to make up any missed Math or ELA sections during make-up testing (May 11th and 12th).  Additionally, students (in grade 5 only) will be taking the NJSLA Science test on May 24th and May 25th.

Foster Care Awareness Month

In collaboration with Parents as Champions (PAC), we wanted to recognize Foster Care Awareness Month .  The Roseland PAC Team & Noecker are teaming up to help Ava's Closet, a 501(c)3 that helps children in foster care.   Foster families normally only have an hour or two notice prior to a child arriving at their home. Often that child will bring very little with them. Through your donations Ava's Closet will be able to provide First Day Comfort Bags filled with clothing, toys, books, and more to help families welcome a child into their home. Ava's closet helps foster children aged from infants to teens.  We will have a box outside the main office for the month of May to collect donations.  Please help if you can. Thank you!

Message from the Health Office

A friendly reminder that Noecker requires that you should not send your child to school if they present with the following:

  • Fever in the past 24 hours. Do not give “Tylenol” before school, in an attempt to “get through the day”. Must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school without the use of fever-reducing medicine.

  • Flu-like symptoms - Must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school without the use of fever-reducing medicine.

  • Vomiting and/or diarrhea in the past 24 hours - Must be illness-free for 24 hours before returning to school.

  • Bad cold, with a very runny nose or sore throat with a bad cough, especially if it has kept the child awake at night or cannot participate in school.

  • Unknown rashes- Must be seen by a physician to be identified and return to school only if the student is not contagious with a doctor’s note stating this with the diagnosis.

  • Strep Throat- Must be on an antibiotic for 24 hours before returning to school.

  • Conjunctivitis- Must be on prescription eye drops 24 hours before returning to school.
