   A Note from Raul Sandoval, Principal

Winter is officially upon us!  As we ease into the new year I want to take a moment to wish everyone a safe, happy, and healthy holiday break.  Thank you for your continued support of Noecker, it is much appreciated.  I look forward to what 2023 has in store.

Social Media, Cell Phones, and More!

Before we break for the holidays, I wanted to share a website called Common Sense Media .  It is a great resource for parents on everything related to media.  Please pay special attention to the Parent Tips and FAQs section .  In it you will find information on many of the platforms that our children currently use.  

I also want to bring to your attention to TikTok, which has been and continues to be a concern in all schools.  Although off-campus speech is protected, the district does have the authority to address incidents that may be considered harassment, intimidation, or bullying.  We will continue to relay this message to our students, especially in the upper grades.  As a parent, I completely understand the challenges of balancing cell phone usage, setting limits, and needing to track or get in touch with your child.  However, I ask that you remain vigilant as our children are still learning and developing (and they will continue to make mistakes)!  

Parents as Champions (PAC) - Fitness Program for Grades 5 & 6

Parents as Champions (a committee of parents) along with the Noecker administration and staff have teamed up!   The purpose of this collaboration is to provide students in grades 5 & 6 with activities and initiatives to enhance and support their emotional and physical well-being.  This effort has been made possible through a grant for middle school-aged students from the SPAN Parent Advocacy Network.  In January we will be launching an after-school fitness program for grades 5 & 6.  Click here to view the letter and here for the flyer! 

Start Strong Individual Student Reports for Grade 4, 5, & 6

We have just received the Start Strong Individual Student Reports for students in grades 4, 5, and 6.  You may recall that your child took this assessment in the beginning of this school year, per state mandate.  Your child was assessed on how well they mastered grade level standards.  Individual reports along with a cover letter will be placed in the mail today.  The cover letter provides an overview of Start Strong and how to access the parent portal to view a digital version of the report.  

Winter Concert

Below are the scheduled times for the various grade levels and groups.  Parents are invited to join us during their child’s respective performance.   A letter with more details will be sent out via email.  Please be on the lookout!

• K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade classrooms and 3rd grade strings, 9:30 am

• 4th, 5th, and 6th grade classrooms, 1:30 pm

• Chorus, 4th/5th/6th Orchestra and 5th/6th Band, 6:30 pm

Kindergarten Registration & Open House (2023-2024)

Roseland parents and guardians are invited to attend our Lester C. Noecker School Kindergarten Open House Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 7:00PM in the Multi-Purpose Room. This is a great opportunity to learn more about our Kindergarten program. The snow date is Thursday, February 9, 2023. To be eligible for Kindergarten, a child must live in Roseland and be five years of age on or before October 1, 2023.  Parents/Guardians are invited to download and complete the Kindergarten registration packet on our website at www.roselandnjboe.org .  Click on Kindergarten.  To enroll your child in Kindergarten, please return the completed registration packet along with all the required documents to Mrs. Catherine Overbeck. Also be sure to reach out to make sure she has you on her list for the upcoming year.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions at all.  She can be reached at coverbeck@roselandnjboe.org   

Preschool Application/Registration & Open House (2023-2024)

Roseland parents and guardians are invited to attend our Lester C. Noecker School Preschool Open House on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 6:30PM in the Multi-Purpose Room. This is a great opportunity to learn more about our preschool program. The snow date is Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 6:30 pm.  Parents/Guardians are invited to download and complete the Preschool Application along with the registration packet on our website at www.roselandnjboe.org .  Click on Preschool.  Applications must be submitted by Friday, January 20, 2023.  You can find all the details on our website.  If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Catherine Overbeck at coverbeck@roselandnjboe.org
