A Note from Raul Sandoval, Principal

This is the time of year to reflect and to be thankful.  When I think about the state of the world, it’s easy to get caught up in the negativity of what social media, and the media in general, highlights.  The fact is that most of what happens, although mundane, is mostly positive.  I am fortunate to see so many positives every day at school: highly engaging discussions between students and teachers, students laughing and enjoying each other's company, students working out their ideas with peers, seeing students get lost in a good back, and teachers guiding students through a lesson.   That is a normal day at Noecker.  This Thanksgiving break, we hope you reconnect with family and loved ones.   Wishing you all continued health and positivity!

Over the last few weeks, students have been discussing the importance of being thankful, empathetic, and aware of food insecurity.   It is always fascinating to hear how passionate students are about helping others.

To all families who have donated, thank you for your generosity.  Please note that we are extending the donation deadline to Monday, November 29th.  You may send in the Table to Table bag or donate online via our school’s donation page.

A Note from Deanne Somers, Superintendent

“In life, one has a choice to take one of two paths: to wait for some special day—or to celebrate each special day.” — Rasheed Ogunlaru

The 2022-2023 District Calendar was approved at the November 18th Board of Education meeting. You can find it on the main page of our website: roselandnjboe.org . Did you know past Weekly Notifications are there, too?

Health & Safety Updates : It was a great effort, but due to logistical challenges, 5th and 6th grade students “switching classes” will be implemented at the same time students begin attending specials in special area classrooms (January 3rd).

Also coming soon for Trimester 2 (which begins on December 13th):

  • In person meetings (IEP, I&RS/504, parent-teacher conferences) may be offered to parents on a case by case basis as each meeting has unique factors such as staff comfort levels, available space, vaccination/testing status, and the number of members in attendance. These factors will determine if the option for in-person will be offered.

  • The Health & Safety Commitment will be due again on Monday, November 29th .

Travel Reminders - Please keep in mind for the upcoming holidays!

Unvaccinated Individuals (Domestic Travel)

  • may get a PCR test 3-5 days after domestic travel and may return no earlier than day 4 with a negative test result. Negative PCR tests must be provided to the school nurse prior to returning to school.

  • The travel quarantine does not apply to NY, PA, and DE.

A Note from Dr. Richard Celebre, Director of Special Services

Happy Thanksgiving, to those who celebrate, and happy short break, to all!

Before moving forward with updates, I wanted to share how thankful I am for the hardworking, dedicated team that makes up the Special Services Department here at Noecker. Thank you, all, for everything you do day in and day out to ensure that our students are provided with the best instruction possible.

As previously mentioned, our first set of Progress Reports are quickly upcoming. I wanted to attach the Reading & Understanding Your Child’s Triennial Progress Report Cheat Sheet that our Teacher Leader team and I developed, with insights from our Parent Leaders. I thank you all for your contributions in developing this tool which will, ideally, serve our community for years to come. I will update here, and send out an Email blast, when all Progress Reports have been sent in the mail around the end of the first trimester (December 10th).

I will also continue to leave the Parent Evening Workshop survey open for your input. Please select the three (3) topics that interest you the most and that you would be most interested in attending an evening workshop on. The survey will stay open until Monday, November 29th . Once all of the information is gathered and reviewed, we will share out the evening workshop topics and dates for the year.
