November 10, 2021

A Note from Raul Sandoval, Principal

Next week is American Education Week.  We pause to celebrate public education and to recognize the individuals that work to ensure that all students are prepared for the future.  In a normal year, we would incorporate parent visitations.  However, due to current restrictions, we will look to move this event to the spring.  Our hope is that restrictions will ease later in the academic year.   Nevertheless, I encourage you to discuss the importance of education with your child each and every day.  We thank you for your continued support of public education and Noecker School.

Tomorrow, November 11th, is Veterans Day.  We have prepared a special virtual presentation in honor of those who have served our country.  A link will be sent out via eblast tomorrow for all families to view.  We hope you enjoy it! Thank you to  all our veterans for their service.

Attention Parents

If you are not already aware, there is a Netflix series called Squid Game that has skyrocketed in popularity.  Unfortunately, this series is extremely inappropriate for children and rated for mature audiences.  I ask that you check your Netflix account, especially if it does not have any restrictions.  I have viewed the series myself and agree that it is not appropriate for our students to watch.  You can readily search for online reviews on this series.  Websites such as Common Sense Media provide great information for parents.

A Note from Deanne Somers, Superintendent

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” ~ President John F. Kennedy

A heartfelt THANK YOU to our Veterans for their service to our country. We 💙You! Please share and enjoy the annual Veterans Day program tomorrow morning brought to you virtually from our Noecker School students!

Reminder that a Roseland Board of Education Meeting (click) is scheduled onsite at Noecker School for Thursday, November 18th at 7:30 PM. Please follow all safety guidelines if attending in person. If unable to attend, you may Zoom In and Listen . Public comment is limited to those onsite. The Roseland Board of Education has posted the position announcement for an Interim Superintendent effective February 1, 2022 on the district’s website . Additional notifications regarding the search process will be forthcoming!

Vaccine Updates

Children Ages 5 to 11 are now eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine! The Pediatric Pfizer vaccine is administered as a two-dose vaccine, three weeks apart, at a lower dose than the dosage for those ages 12 and older. To find vaccination locations with pediatric doses, visit covid19.nj.gov/finder and look for “Min. age: 5 years” or consult with your pediatrician.

Progress Reports: I wanted to bring to all of your attention that teachers and therapists are beginning the process of completing the first set of progress reports for this school year. Progress reports are completed three times a year, in line with the trimesters, and distributed in the mail for your review and records. This blog entry, by Dr. Brandi Tanner, is a helpful overview of what progress reports are, and why they are important. I will update here when progress reports have all been mailed out, and when you should begin to look out for them arriving in the mail, as they will not be going out until closer to the end of the first trimester. I will also be providing a “cheat sheet” guide for reading and understanding your progress reports in the coming weeks ( before they are distributed! ).

The Parent/Administration Collaboration Site is up and running! This site will serve as a central hub for posting information regarding upcoming events and will house a repository of resources. On the site, you will find access to a Google Form , where I invite you to submit ideas and suggestions for future events. Once I have a collection of submissions, we will be in touch regarding the scheduling of our series of events for the school year.
