March 24, 2021

March 24, 2021

Please keep children home if they have ANY COVID-19 Symptoms

March 29th Health & Safety Commitment:

All students will be required to return a signed Health Commitment Form to school the weeks of March 29th, April 12th and April 19th. Hard copies will be provided!

Please review TRAVEL Information below!

As you are aware, the CDC has lessened the six feet social distancing in classrooms recommendation. As we await guidance from the New Jersey Department of Health, we are actively planning for five day a week onsite instruction for grades K through 6! Please see the email sent on Tuesday, March 23rd.

Additional Information to Consider:

  • At this stage of planning, we are exploring onsite instruction five days a week (8:45 AM - 1:05 PM) to begin Monday, April 26th for all K-6 onsite students . Times and dates are estimates .

  • The A Day and B Day onsite cohorts will be combined, as will the AM/PM cohorts . There may be a 14-day health and safety risk of COVID-19 exposure upon combining the cohorts.

  • Students will be < six feet socially distanced in classrooms. We anticipate all other health and safety measures (slide 19) to remain in place with the possible exception of plexi-glass barriers on students’ desks (as per the CDC).

  • Transportation will be provided for those who live > 2 miles away from school. If you are currently eligible for busing, it would be available five days a week.

  • There will be changes to schedules for all students. Our goal is to minimize impact on teacher/homeroom changes, but impacts are a possibility.

If applicable , please complete the REMOTE  form: Current Remote Students Intent 4/2021 OR Requesting Remote form: Current ONSITE to Remote Learning Request 4/2021 . Please return either to Mrs. Dallow by Monday, March 29th.

A Note from Deanne Somers, Superintendent

It’s incredible that March is zooming (no pun intended) along so quickly and we find ourselves in the third trimester, exploring summer programs and itching to start planning for 2021-2022. Alas, we have a lot more planning to do for 2020-2021 yet! We are all beyond thrilled that we look to have the opportunity for five day a week onsite instruction for everyone, even if it isn’t “normal,” it’s getting there! We all thank you for your support, encouragement, and understanding as we PIVOT once again. Stay tuned for updates and STAY SAFE!

TRAVEL

THANK YOU FOR NOTIFYING US OF YOUR PLANS! Our Spring Break begins Friday, April 2nd with our return to school on Monday, April 12th. Our DOH recommendation continues to be a 14-day quarantine for travel out of the immediate area (New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Delaware). *AT THIS TIME* Quarantine after travel (regardless of vaccines or previously positive status) is still required. Please also be cognizant of hosting guests who travel and pay special attention to COVID symptoms.

Please let us know if you are traveling and if your child(ren) will be quarantining so that we can be prepared to support them.

A Note from Rich Celebre, Supervisor of Special Services

Happy Wednesday! With the news of the changes to the health & safety guidelines, we once again face the task of developing a schedule which maximizes instructional time while minimizing risk. As we plan our next steps, we will continue to keep our students’ unique needs and services in mind. As always, your patience (and feedback!) is greatly appreciated. As more information becomes available, if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to reach out to your case managers. Thank you.

Looking ahead , April is Autism Acceptance Month and the Autism Acceptance Committee has been meeting to develop activities for all of our students, whether they be in school or remote. The focus of our activities will be to inform, educate, and engage the students over the course of the month. We hope to be able to bring as much knowledge as possible to our students so as to continue to grow awareness and acceptance within our school community.

One additional update - Student progress reports have all been finalized and sent out in the mail so, please, keep an eye out in the mail for them.
