A Note from Raul Sandoval, Principal

As we enter our final trimester, we are preparing for the return of several end of year events.  Traditional events  like the Book Fair and Field Day begin to fill up our calendar.  As mentioned in previous notifications we will be offering our in-person Summer Enrichment program for students entering grades 1-6.  A separate eblast will be sent out for families to be able to sign up.  Please note that Summer Enrichment (1st-6th grade), Kindergarten Summer Enrichment, and Extended School Year (ESY) are all separate programs.  Thank you in advance for your patience as we work to open registration for Summer Enrichment for our 1st-6th graders very soon.  

Kindergarten Summer Enrichment 2022 Registration Open!  

Kindergarten Summer Enrichment Program Registration is now open!  The program will run Monday-Thursday from July 6, 2022 - July 28, 2022 (no program on Fridays). The registration deadline is May 2, 2022.  All the details are in the packet, we look forward to an awesome program with our new incoming kindergarten students!  

A Note from Dr. Richard Celebre, Director of Special Services

Happy first official Wednesday of Spring! It’s hard to believe we are truly in the final third of another school year, but with conferences now in the rearview window, baseball back, and the weather getting nicer with every passing day, we are. With this being the case, preparations for the Extended School Year (ESY) program will be ramping up. The ESY program will run Mondays-Thursdays (No program on Fridays) from July 6, 2022 - July 28, 2022 from 8:45 - 1:00. As always, eligibility for ESY services are recommended on an individual student basis, based on student progress, and re-evaluated annually. These conversations will take place with your case manager/IEP team within the context of an IEP meeting. Just a reminder, ESY and Summer Enrichment are two separate programs. Summer Enrichment is programmed and run by Mr. Sandoval. 

#LotsOfSocks & World Down Syndrome Day Updates - This past Monday marked our second annual #LotsOfSocks Event in support of World Down Syndrome Day and the staff and student turn out was amazing. So many rocked their favorite socks and the donations, as was blasted out on Monday, reached over 390 pairs by day's end. We will continue to collect until the end of the month, so please, keep the new socks coming! For the Down Syndrome Awareness and Acceptance Month fact of the week , I wanted to share the following website which provides children’s books that all help to bring attention and spark conversations about Down Syndrome. 

Progress Reports - Progress reports have been completed by teachers and put in the mail. Please, keep an eye out for them and if you do not receive them, or need clarification on anything within the reports do not hesitate to reach out to your Case Managers. Thank you! 

Current Sixth Grade Families - In collaboration with the West Essex Child Study Team, case managers for current sixth grade families will be in touch to continue coordinating transition planning meetings for the move up to the middle school.
