February 10, 2021

A Note from Raul Sandoval, Principal

Books are at the heart of everyday learning, especially for our younger students.  I can remember some of my favorites from Doctor Seuss.  They always took me to a magical place and helped spark so many ideas for my artwork.  I enjoyed the illustrations, the silly rhymes, and strange characters that defied explanation.  I also loved reading and listening to biographies.  Stories are part of the human experience and remain a perfect vehicle for teaching anything and everything.

As part of Black History Month, I wanted to share a Black History Month Virtual Bookshelf (to view, make sure the slide is in “Present” mode).  The Google Slide contains links to recordings of authors reading their own books and read alouds on Storyline Online .  Thank you to Mrs. Schimmel, our Library-Media Specialist, for sharing this resource!  I encourage you to share and discuss with your child.  The Storyline Online site also contains many additional read alouds that you may enjoy.

Valentine’s Day at Noecker💗

Reminder: We will continue with Valentine’s Day celebrations upon our return to hybrid instruction! Please be on the lookout for communication from your child’s homeroom teacher and/or the class parent.

Please complete our Winter LCN Parent Check In Survey!

Our mid-November survey found the majority of our parents feeling positive (as one can be during a pandemic) about both instruction and the schedule(s). In our second teacher survey, our teachers reported being on track with pacing and student mastery of core content. We continue to seek opportunities to support socio-emotional learning and connection as those areas were identified in both community and teacher surveys. We also remain focused on where and how to improve student experiences whether hybrid or remote. We all recognize the herculean efforts of all in our school community during these times. Thank you for all YOU do!

We are looking forward to returning to our HYBRID Learning Schedule on Tuesday, February 16th (Reminder that school is closed for Presidents’ Day on the 15th). We are also constantly monitoring *Winter*Weather *and will likely utilize the REMOTE HYBRID schedule if needed due to inclement weather (*Tuesday?*). We have utilized all of our Snow Days! Quite the February!

It is IMPERATIVE that any student who has been

exposed to a positive person,

traveled outside of the tri-state area,
