December 8, 2021

A Note from Raul Sandoval, Principal

There isn’t much time left before the winter break, but there is so much left to do!  Please make sure to take a look at the calendar of important dates and events.  On Monday, December 13th, the Genesis Parent Portal will be open at 4:00 pm to view your child’s report card.  Please note that the portal is currently closed.  If you have any specific questions on your child’s grades, please contact their teacher directly.

A shout out to Noecker Cares!  They have been hard at work brainstorming ideas, helping with the morning announcements, and sharing their passion projects.  They will kick off their first spirit week of the year on December 13th.  Please see a special message below from Mrs. Chartoff and Ms. Buccelli.  We ask for 100 percent participation to show our school and holiday spirit!

The students of Noecker Cares are so excited to present to you our first Spirit Week of the year! Please click here to view the flyer. This month's fundraiser is to help support our Caring Officer, Declan's, passion project: Give Kids the World. We are asking Noecker families to consider donating to this great cause. The link to donate is attached to the flyer but you can also click here for your convenience.

Reminder from our Music Teachers, Mrs. Havrilla and Mr. Surdyn, that Friday,  December 10th is the last day to submit your child’s video.  Please click here to review their letter.  You should have also received it from your child’s homeroom teacher.

A Note from Deanne Somers, Superintendent

Celebrate Kindness this December with Action for Happiness !

A Note from Dr. Richard Celebre, Director of Special Services

Happy December. The Department of Special Services has a lot of updates, resources, and workshop/meeting dates that need to be shared below!

With the end of the first trimester quickly approaching this Friday, December 10th, I wanted to update that the first round of Triennial Progress Reports have started being mailed today! (Please utilize the Reading & Understanding Your Child’s Triennial Progress Report Cheat Sheet to help ensure understanding of reading the documents when they arrive.) If, after reviewing your child’s progress report, you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to your teachers or case managers directly. Thank you!

The Special Education Parent/Administration Collaboration Parent Evening Workshop topics have been set, based on your survey responses, and I wanted to share those topics and dates with you now. Thank you to those who took the time to make your opinions heard by both sharing ideas and voting. The topics which received the most interest were: Transitioning to West Essex, Accommodations/Modifications (What is available for your child in the classroom), and Special Education at Noecker - an In Depth Programming Overview. For planning purposes, we are looking to run these workshops virtually on the following dates -

  • Special Education at Noecker - an In Depth Programming Overview - Monday, January 10th @ 6:30 - 7:30

  • Accommodations/Modifications (What is Available for Your Child in the Classroom) - Monday, March 7th @ 6:30 - 7:30

  • Transitioning to West Essex - May Date TBD

Any updates on location or dates/times will be relayed as early as possible! Also, additional resources will be generated and made available based on the other topics of interest expressed throughout the surveying process!

Finally, the Roseland SEPAC will be hosting a Parent Collaboration Meeting on Tuesday, December 14th @ 7:30 . Additional information, as well as their December Newsletter, is posted on the SEPAC page .

Testing/Quarantine Reminder

Q: What if someone (Person A) in the house has symptoms ?

A: If Person A has symptoms of COVID-19 , s/he should be tested and all others in the house should quarantine until Person A receives a negative PCR*  test result. If Person A is negative, all others may then return to school/work as long as there are NO symptoms. Minus the negative PCR* test of Person A, all others/siblings should remain home 10-14 days (depending upon community risk level). If Person A tests positive for COVID-19, all others must be quarantined for 10-14 days from last exposure to Person A; Person A isolates for 10 days from the positive test date.

  • T he CDC and DOH recommend that a two-week quarantine is still the optimal way to protect against spreading the virus.
