December 1, 2021

A Note from Raul Sandoval, Principal

December is here and so is the holiday season! I want to thank the HSA and all of our parent volunteers for a successful Holiday Bazaar.  We appreciate all of your efforts in the planning, setup, and execution of the shopping extravaganza.  The Sierchio Gym was buzzing with excitement as students purchased gifts for family members and loved ones (and perhaps a few for themselves).  It was great to see the holiday spirit at Noecker and the return of a tradition.

Today, members of Noecker Cares took over the responsibility of the morning announcements.  To date, I have been doing the announcements, but now it’s time for the students to step up.  I am confident that they will do a great job. They are now responsible for starting our day with the Pledge of Allegiance, fact of the day, quote of the day, and pressing news.   Thank you to Ms. Buccelli and Mrs. Chartoff, our Noecker Cares Advisors, for organizing this opportunity for our students.

As we approach the winter break please make sure to check our important dates at the end of this notification.  We have an additional HSA Noecker Night this month as well as reminders about our lost & found, which is overflowing!

Please click here for a special message from our Music Teachers, Mr. Surdyn and Mrs. Havrilla!

A Note from Deanne Somers, Superintendent

And just like that it’s December! One always knows it’s close when Noecker has the Holiday Bazaar! A great many things are coming soon (see “Mark Your Calendar” below) including the end of Trimester 1, Noecker Cares’ Spirit Week, and Report Cards! Thank you for your continued support of our teachers, administrators, and staff. Enjoy the magic and possibility of the holiday season!

Reminder that the last 2021 Roseland Board of Education Meeting (click) is scheduled onsite at Noecker School for Thursday, December 16th at 7:30 PM. Please follow all safety guidelines if attending in person. If unable to attend, you may Zoom In and Listen . Public comment is limited to those onsite.

A Note from Dr. Richard Celebre, Director of Special Services

Happy December! The school year continues to move along as the holiday season starts to come into focus. Between now and the start of winter break, a lot will be happening at Noecker between classroom activities, report cards, and progress report distribution. As previously mentioned, our first set of Progress Reports are quickly upcoming. I wanted to attach the Reading & Understanding Your Child’s Triennial Progress Report Cheat Sheet that our Teacher Leader team and I developed, with insights from our Parent Leaders. I thank you all for your contributions in developing this tool which will, ideally, serve our community for years to come. I will update here, and send out an Email blast, when all Progress Reports have been sent in the mail around the end of the first trimester (December 10th).

The Parent Evening Workshop Survey has also been closed, and responses are being reviewed. Additional information on workshop offerings, as well as additional resources based on the information gathered, will be forthcoming.

Finally, I wanted to share (and then will be adding to our “Helpful links,” section from here on) a really incredible document that has been put together by our parents. The following list of Local Community Organizations and Extracurricular Activities that Support Students with Special Needs will be an on-going collection of ideas, contacts, and information to help provide families with connections beyond the school day. We hope to continue to grow this list, so please, if you have any additional organizations or activities that you have had personal, positive experiences with do not hesitate to reach out and offer a suggestion.
