Please find a summary of the key highlights from our June Board of Education meeting:

• The Board conducted its annual Goal setting to determine the Board and District Goals for the upcoming year.
• Mr. Brian Burtcel of Source4Teachers, a service that helps manage the substitute teacher availability and scheduling, presented to the Board.
• Mr. Rutzky presented the school HIB (Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying) grade of 78/78 for a perfect score. There were no HIB incidents this year.
• Mr. Rutzky shared plans for a garden in the courtyard with paver path which will provide the students an opportunity to learn about the growing process.
• The Board decided to replace the tables in the all purpose room with the surplus cafeteria funds and reconsider the  ORCA  at a future date
• Mrs. DaCosta presented the planned Professional Development for the 2014-2015 school year
• Mrs. DaCosta presented a proposal to provide the 5th and 6th graders with two “advisory” periods, similar to “cycles” at West Essex
• Each Board member and Mrs. DaCosta personally thanked Mr. Rutzky for his outstanding contributions during his tenure at Noecker
• The Board reviewed Superintendent resumes in closed session and will work with our NJSBA representative to schedule interviews
• The Board approved:
  • Annual appointments of key providers such as Attorney, Physician, Benefit Advisors, Auditor and financial designations
  • Dr. Maria Cleary as the Interim Superintendent
  • Approval of contracts for administrative staff
  • Acceptance of Letter of Retirement from Mrs. Pamela Ernstrom
  • Acceptance of donation from the Roseland Boosters to be used for a music synthesizer and additional scoreboard in the Sierchio gym
  • Acceptance of donation from the West Essex Parents for Autism Awareness of an iPad and protective case
• The next regular Board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 24 at 7:30pm in the Noecker Media Center.
