Highlights of Thursday, December 12 Meeting

Good afternoon. Below please find a summary of the key highlights from our December 12th Board of Education meeting:

  • The Board recognized the following 5th grade Webelos (We‘ll Be Loyal Scouts) for their work on the Nature Trail behind Noecker – thanks to the boys, their parents, and troop leader Frank Butterfield.
    • Webelos: Harry Butterfield, Sam Goldstein, Aidan Jedwabnik, Grant King, Ethan Philips, Gage Reichek, and Logan Reichek
    • Click here  to view a photo of the Webelos
  • Mr. Rutzky used the laptops in the Media Center to provide a hands on view of the new PARCC assessments and run through a few examples of the problem solving required of students, specifically multi-step problems and critical thinking. The PARCC assessment will replace the NJASK in the 2014-2015 school year.
  • Mr. Rutzky provided a summary from the parent workshops held to understand MAP results and take parents through a sample student day using Everyday Math. The Everyday Math Powerpoint presentation along with resources for the Everyday Math program are available on the website. Click Parent Info, click on Everyday Math.
  • The Board approved the District calendar for 2014-2015 school year. A copy is on the website under Calendar.
  • The board welcomed back Mrs. DaCosta from her maternity leave.
  • The next Board meeting (reorganization) is scheduled for Thursday, January 9 at 7:30pm in the Noecker Media Center.
